Saturday, August 16th was a day to celebrate at Northgate Apartments in Burlington, VT. The resident controlled community in the New North End unveiled a new playground extension to one of its two children’s play areas. Tim Moran, a member of Northgate’s Board of Directors, welcomed the approximately 100 residents that turned out for the playground dedication. The dedication included a ceremonial ribbon cutting by 7 year old Mason Sweetser, son of Melissa and Raymond Sweetser, and was followed by the enjoyment of cupcakes and lemonade. There were then nothing but smiles and happy faces as the kids were thrilled to finally get to use the new equipment.
As Northgate is a resident controlled community the initial concept, planning, design and budgeting, through final approval, were all handled by members of the resident population. The final implementation of this project was then entrusted to the capable hands of Northgate’s long time property management company, Maloney Properties, Inc. The equipment was installed by Bears Playground Inc. whose company mission statement is, “to create fantastic, nature inspired playgrounds and other products which enhance children’s environments.” That was the concept that Northgate residents were going for and Bears delivered. The kids gave the new equipment a unanimous thumb’s up, as for the rest of the day the playtime action was non-stop.
