Maloney Properties, Inc. (MPI) was recently named a “Top Places to Work” for 2012 by the Boston Globe. Our employees are what make MPI a strategic player in the property management industry. And for that we would like to express our gratitude and thanks for their hard work and devotion. Combined, our staff have well over 25 years of industry related experience in the areas of Site Operations, Accounting, Compliance, IT, Resident Services and Facilities Management.
As MPI continues to grow, we are always on the hunt for new talent. I use the word “hunt” because it is becoming more difficult for Human Resources professionals in our industry to find qualified candidates to fill open positions. It is becoming more apparent that we work in a growing industry with a shrinking candidate pool. Our company is very diverse in the types of properties that we manage from family based, elderly and/or disabled, assisted living, condo, and cooperative housing. Did you know MPI also manages hotels? MPI manages Hotel 140, a budget boutique hotel and 40 Berkeley, a hostel in the Back Bay area. With managing this diverse portfolio of properties comes many complex affordable housing programs such as Section 8, Low Income Housing Tax Credit, HOME funds, Section 236 and the list goes on.
With this said, we need to hire staff with not only industry experience but also those with diverse experiences and backgrounds. We also recruit for staff that are bilingual in English and other languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Creole, etc. Almost every day I speak with people who are interested in gaining an introduction to the field of property management or those who are experienced and interested in joining the MPI family. The top question that I am normally asked is “What experience and qualifications are you seeking in candidates for your openings?”. The following information will provide you with more insight in terms of what skills and qualifications hiring managers and I look for when recruiting for various positions at MPI.
